At an age when many people think they are supposed to be settling down and living a quiet and relaxed life, many couples find that this is a time of great sexual exploration and satisfaction, finding a greater connection with their spouse than ever before.

There are a few things that you can do to keep your sex drive and sexual satisfaction high, regardless of how old you are.

-Manage stress properly. Modern medicine is just now discovering how far reaching and extreme the effects of stress can be, but one major side effect to stress is that it not only decreases one’s libido, but actually makes enjoying sex more difficult, too.

-Make time for sex. This seems obvious, but it’s easy to get caught up in life and work and forget to spend quality time with your spouse. The longer the time period between sexual activities, the more difficult it can be to initiate sex.

-Use it or lose it. It may seem like just an old saying, but when it comes to sex and aging this saying unfortunately holds true. If you want to enjoy a healthy sex life well into the later years of your life, the important thing is to make sure that you are regularly having sex now -and then keep having sex regularly. Plus, sex is great exercise and helps you to stay active.

-Try new things. If there has always been that one thing you wanted to try, but never got around to it or didn’t feel comfortable talking about it, well, now’s the time to do so! Trying new things is a great way to keep your sex life spicy and exciting.
